Before and After ~ Everyone Loves A Hammock

The Challenge ~ Make the hammock area seem relevant.

The hammock which Dwight and the kids had given me for mother's day many years ago was one of my favorite spots in the yard.

However once we cleaned out all of the honeysuckle which had been in the background (in the picture left), the hammock seemed sort of random and looked like it was just hanging out there in the middle of the dirt and trees (below). Yuck - not very inviting.

TheProcess ~ Really all it took was for the shade garden to be planted in the background then we added some hostas and caladium under the hammock. The best result was from my brother-in-law Kevin cleaning it rope by rope with his power washer. Like Dwight said, it looks brand new now.

We added the pillows which match the umbrella on the patio table above and I feel like it could be in a Pottery Barn catalogue.

The Result ~ The hammock no longer looks irrelevant or out of place once the shade garden was planted.

As you can see, the hammock area has become my favorite place for chillaxing with Charlie.
